Kimi Ora School

Enrolment at Kimi Ora School

To enrol at Kimi Ora School a student must have a physical disability and be verified as having Very High Needs under the Ongoing Reviewable Resourcing Scheme (ORRS).

An upper limit of 30 students has been placed on Kimi Ora School. This is due to the physical constraints of our small site. When the roll reaches 30 a waiting list is established.

A waiting list is currently in operation. If your wish to enrol your child at Kimi Ora School contact Don Stevens, Principal.

Waiting List Guidelines

The organisation and administration of the waiting list is the responsibility of the Principal. He shall keep the Board of Trustees informed on the numbers on the waiting list.

The guidelines for the administration of the waiting list are avaiable to Parents/Caregivers.

When a roll of thirty is attained a waiting list wil be established.

The following criteria are to be used as a guideline in determining enrolment and Kimi Ora School

  • Those students and their families who are currently being educated in Special Schools will have higher priority than those students and their families who are transferring from a regular education setting.

  • The level of disability of a student is not a criteria used in determining the place on the waiting list.

Prioritising position on the waiting list

  • All enrolments will be dependent on space being available at a particular year level.

  • Students who are transferring from another Special School will have the highest priority.

  • Students who have a condition that is degenerative; or have a change of ability due to an accident, or illness will be accorded a greater priority than other students.

  • Other students will be placed on the waiting list in accordance to the date a written application for enrolment is received by the Principal
