CRSSC

The Central Region Special Schools Cluster (CRSSC). This cluster of schools has been working in collaboration since 2001, to improve meaningful assessment to inform teaching and learning for students working within Level One of the New Zealand Curriculum. They have developed Expand Level One frameworks and exemplars for both literacy and numeracy for students with special needs.

They have been working collaboratively to support and encourage the use if ICT as a key component in enhancing literacy and numeracy skill development. This has involved the continuing development and implementation of our expanded Level One framework for literacy. The framework enables more accurate identification of specific learning and achievement for individuals and to inform teachers of the next logical steps for learners.

“Information technology creates a shared platform for learning, linking school, home and community, in which learners and teachers work together far more collaboratively.”
(Charles Leadbeater, The Shape of Things to Come: Personalised Learning through Collaboration, 2005.)

The cluster wish to enhance student learning by further extending student personalised learning in each of our schools by the use of e-learning. Through e-learning student access to learning will be optimised. Through e-learning student learning will be highly motivated, ICT extended and challenged by the introduction and use of innovative multi-sensory e-learning tools. The cluster schools use ICT to facilitate shared learning, assist in the creation of supportive learning environments and offer our students virtual experiences opening up new and different ways of learning. ( The New Zealand Curriculum – Pg. 36)
